The Port of Veracruz has a big commitment to our community and that is why it performs several actions on benefit of it, which are among others the construction of the Port Boulevard, route on which currently circulate on a daily basis more than 1500 trucks and trailers that come in and out of the port precinct, without having to cross the city as they used to, which caused noise, traffic and pollution. In addition constructions as the Allende Bridge, San Juan de Ulua Bridge and the extension of the Morelos Bridge, the asphalting based on hydraulic concrete of Rafael Cuervo Av. and the construction of 2 docks for the arrival of vessels of the Bicentennial Regatta have been among others works that have directly benefitted the city and its inhabitants.

In addition to the aforementioned, we have been developing since several years ago, works in benefit of the ecology and the environment performing specific programs as the “Spring Sowing”, on which on 2008 and with the participation of 22 elementary schools of the locality, there were sown 4,866 trees on different areas of the Port Precinct, sowing as well on 2009 more than 6,000 trees jointly with 49 educational institutions on the municipalities of Veracruz, Boca del Rio and Medellin, as well as the reforestation of their green areas, promoting in this way an environmental culture between all the participant students. In this 2010 we will sow 1,500 trees jointly with 20 schools and in addition we will participate in the program “Together for a Clean Beach”, as participants of the Local Committee of Clean Beaches of the Conurbation Zone of Veracruz-Boca del Rio-Medellin-Alvarado, which is presided by the Navy Military Third Zone, involving as well government instances and private entities.

We also have the program “Know Your Port” that gives the chance to young students to have guided visits inside the premises of the port precinct increasing the knowledge that is given in the classroom.

Another bond between the port community and the citizenship is the televised show API TV, which is transmitted every Sunday from 11:00 am to 11:30 am by the local channel TELEVER with regional coverage and which content is to inform the activities that are being developed inside the port, fomenting the interest of the population in the port and maritime activities.
